This is a preliminary Program which may be modified

Classes will be held in the very heart of Prague, at Mala Strana, two minutes walk from the famous Charles’ Bridge in the Monastery of St. Thomas (Josefska 8, Mala strana, Prague 1) built in the second half of the 13th century. From the Collegium Minor residency to the Collegium there is a direct tram connection, the ride only takes twelve minutes.  

Sunday 15 

From 11 am  :  Registration of the Summer University participants at the student’s residency. Distribution of keys, repartition between rooms, distribution of study materials
After 3 pm: Sightseeing for those who will have already arrived.
7 pm : Welcome dinner, discussions with the organizers, presentation of the program.


Monday 16

8 am : Guided departure from the residency for the classrooms of the Collegium Minor
9-11 am : General lecture : The creation of the East and Central European Nations, Prof. Miroslav Hroch (Charles University in Prague)
11-12 am : workshop

2-3pm : General Lecture : East European Nationalisms in the 20 century; Prof. Jan Rychlik (Charles University in Prague)

3-5pm: workshop

6pm : Dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant
8pm: Welcome cocktail


Tuesday 16

9-10 am : General lecture : The Migration freedom in the EU, JUdr Solange Grondin, PhD
10-12 am : workshop

2-3 pm: General lecture: Europeans and internationnal Law systems for minorities protections (Scheu Harald Christian, Junior Profesor)

3-5 pm  : workshop

7 pm : Dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant


Wednesday 18

9-10 am : General lecture: Czech political parties toward the nation, the case of the Green party
10-12 am : workshop

2-3 pm: General lecture: The cultures of Central Europe

3-5 pm  : workshop

8 pm: Discovery of the Czech beer


  Thursday 19

9-10 am : General lecture: Central Europe in the US diplomacy
10-12 am : workshop

2-5 pm : Between Past and Future, Prague Sightseeing  (Petra Tesarova, M.A.).

6 pm : Discovery of the Czech gastronomy: tasting of game or cheese (for amateurs) 

8.30 pm : Exploring Prague from the river - a Prague Venice boat trip. Departure from the Charles’ Bridge


Friday 20

9-10 am : General Lecture : The dissident’s discourses on the nation, Michal Kopecek, PhD, Insitute for Contemporary History, Czech Academy of Science
10-12am : workshop

2-3 pm : General Lecture: Policial Sociology of the nationalism in the Central European Political Parties

3-5 pm : workshop

8.30 pm : dinner with tasting of Czech beers (for amateurs)


Saturday 21

free time
8 pm : pubs and disco (not financed by the Summer University)


Sunday 22

1 pm : Departures to Bratislava by train

5.30 pm: going to the hotel

7 pm: dinner


Monday 23

9 am â€“ 12 am: discovering Bratislava, guided tour

2-4 pm : visit of the Visegrad Fund. Meeting with the director, lecture on the new politics of Central Europe

7 pm : Dinner in a traditional Slovak restaurant


Tuesday 24

8 am â€“ 9.15 am: traveling by train to Vienna (Austria)

10 am-2 pm: free time

2pm-5 pm visit of the Bolzman institute. Lecture on the Memory of communism and II World War; Muriel Blaive, PhD, Researcher, discussion

5pm45-7 pm : Travel back to bratislava

7.30pm-8.30pm: goodbye Dinner in a traditional Slovak restaurant


Thursday 25:

8 am â€“ 12.15 am: traveling back to Prague
