Program 2006 

Schedule

Classes will be held in the very heart of Prague, at Mala Strana, two minutes walk from the famous Charles’ Bridge in the Monastery of St. Thomas (Josefska 8, Mala strana, Prague 1) built in the second half of the 13th century. From the Collegium Minor’s residency  to the Collegium’s classrooms there is a direct tram connection, the ride only takes twelve minutes.  

Sunday 2 

From 2h30 pm  :   Registration of the Summer University participants at the Collegium’s residency. Distribution of keys, repartition between rooms, distribution of study materials.
7 pm : Welcome dinner in the restaurant , discussion with the organizers, presentation of the program. Restaurant


Monday 3

8 am : Guided departure from the residency for the classrooms of the Collegium Minor.
9-10 am : General lecture: The European Security questions (Radek Khol, IIR).
10-12 am :
Workshop.

2-3 pm : General lecture: The Harmonization of Law in the EU (Jana Rybinova, head of information section, Department of Compatibility, Office of the Governement of the Czech Republic)

Presentation of the Czech Case (JUDr Marketa Whelanova, PhD, Department of Compatibility, Office of the Governement)
4-5 pm : at the British Embassy: The British Foreign Policy in Europe

6 pm : Dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant:

8pm: welcome cocktail


Tuesday 4

 

9-12 am : General lecture at the classroom of the residency: The Economic State of the EU and the Perspectives of Evolution (Tomas Sedlacek, Former advisor to Finance Ministry, currently financial analyst at CSOB bank).

2-3 pm : General lecture at the classroom of the residency: Integration of Foreigners in the EU: Public Policies and Debates (Eva Pavlikova, Newton College).


3-5 pm : Workshop.

6 pm : Dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant


Wednesday 5

8 am: Departure to the classroom of the Collegium Minor

9-10 am : The Constitutional Debate in the Czech Republic in the light of the EU construction (Mark Gillis, advisor at the Czech Constitutionnal Court)
10-12 am : Workshop.

1.30pm- 3pm : Workshop: Citizens of the New Member-states Facing the Transformation of their Legal Systems, Case study (JUDr Solange Grondin).

3.15 pm – 5.15pm : EU and Disability policy, (Jitka Sinecka)

6 pm : Dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant

8 pm: Discovery of the Czech beer


 

Thursday 6

9 am : General lecture: The New Perspectives for the EU, a journalist point of view (Martin Mikule, Prima TV – Foreign News Department head).
10.30am-12 am : General lecture: Central European Societies facing the Enlargment (Nicolas Maslowski, Université de Nanterre –Central European Seminar, Collegium Minor)

2-3 pm : General lecture: Between Past and Future, Prague Sightseeing (Petra Tesarova).
3-5 pm : Workshop

6 pm : Dinner in a traditional Czech restaurant

8.30 pm : Exploring Prague from the river - a Prague Venice boat trip. Departure from the Charles’ Bridge.


Friday 7

9-10 am : General lecture: Questions of Migration in the Enlarged EU (Marketa Rulikova, PhD, Colby-Sawyer College, USA).
10-12am : Workshop.

2-3 pm : The European System for the Protection of Human Rights (Associate Professor Harald Scheu, Charles University and European Chargé d’Affaires at the Austrian Embassy)
3-5 pm : Workshop.

6 pm : Dinner
8 pm : Open party at the Residency.


Saturday 8

Morning : Free time.
1-2 pm : Final exam.

6 pm : Diplomas’ distribution ceremony at the residency.
7 pm : Discovery of the Czech gastronomy: tasting of game or cheese (for amateurs).

8 pm : Pubs and disco (not financed by the Summer University).


Sunday 9

Departures.
